Title: Single-valued periods
Abstract: Periods of families of algebraic varieties are usually multi-valued functions. For families defined 
over a subfield of the real numbers, one can use complex conjugation to produce canonical single-valued versions 
of these periods. In this talk we will give a gentle introduction to single-valued periods and their motivic 
interpretation, along with some examples and applications. This is based on joint work with Francis Brown.
