The Digital Gramophone Project is an investigation of 3D Photography techniques. The object 'gramophone' was chosen to be virtualized, through a 3D scanner, because of its complexity and conceptual values: how curious could it be to have a virtual object, captured straight from the real world, and keeping its original aspects of geometry and texture – changed naturally by time and use?

The result is an animation of a tour around and inside this object. A song is being played; the animation audio is, in fact, composed by tracks of a project of scanning vinyl discs to generate music through computers. It keeps, like the gramophone, aspects of matter, such as noises and interferences.

The Digital Gramophone is an experimental project, made at VISGRAF [Visual and Graphics Lab], of Impa.
