Hello, and welcome to my website (based on a design from the amazing OSWD site).

I'm a computer graphics Ph.D. student at the Instituto Nacional de Matemática Pura e Aplicada and a member of the Vision and Graphics Laboratory since March 2005. I hold a M.Sc. degree in Mathematics (with emphasis in computer graphics and optimization ) from IMPA and a B.Sc. degree in Computer Science (with emphasis in computer graphics, artificial intelligence and digital entertainment ) from the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco since I came to IMPA. Prior to graduation, I worked as a software engineer intern at Meantime Mobile Games and as research assistant at the Computational Intelligence and Software Productivity groups.

My current (read as "ph.d. thesis" ) research interests include (applications in computer graphics of ) mathematical and computational modeling of physical phenomena (specially the dynamics of fluids, elasticity and rigid-bodies), numerical analysis (specially of differential equations, function approximation and optimization ), and scientific visualization (specially of scalar- and vector-fields). Other research topics (read as "unfortunately not, by now, in my ph.d. thesis" ) that still fascinate me include film animation and special effects, computer games, GPU programming, computational geometry and topology, machine learning, computational photography, computer vision, image processing, (facial-)motion capture, (non-)photorealistic image synthesis, multiagent systems, virtual/augmented/mediated reality, human-computer (haptic) interfaces, wearable computers, robotics and some others... =)
